Vigilantism...
Charles Bronson started it with Death Wish, Then came The Equalizer, BatmanHard Candy, and now we have the latest entry;

Jody Foster started playing tough roles in Silence of the lambs 1991 (if you don't count Foxes 1980 LOL ) got tougher in Panic room 2002, continued this trend in Flightplan 2005, and has now topped herself with The Brave One 2007.

This was a well crafted story, and Jodie was tough as nails in her latest action drama. Terrence Howard plays a cop
 ( Detective Mercer ) with a sense of honor who is alternatively her adversary and confidant.

Radio Host Erica Bain (Jody Foster) is working in New York City and planning her wedding to David Kirmani (Naveen Andrews). They encounter a group of young punk thug culture criminals who beat them mercilessly. David loses his life, and Erica loses her heart and soul. Broken and melted in a crucible of  pain, Erica re-emerges reforged as a vigilante, out to punish the wicked and seek vengance.

This is the basic story, and then it gets more complicated when she meets Detective Mercer and continues down her self destructive spiral of vengence. Let those who seek vengence begin by digging two graves.
The bottom line is that this is an excellent film, 4 out of 5 stars, and the best vigilante movie I have seen in years.
Of course this excludes martial arts movies, as nearly every martial arts movie has a vengence theme.
